Grading Information
Colour belt gradings are held roughly every three months and are carried out by Grand Master Dew 9th degree black belt. Students below blue belt have a minimum grading time of 3 months and blue belts and above have a minimum time of 6 months.
The date, time and location of the next grading should be at the top of this page as soon as it is available. On the week leading up to the grading a pre grading will be held to ensure that all students are ready and to help them to prepare for what to expect at the grading, these will be held on the Tuesday training session before the grading. If any grading student is unable to make the pre grading please let your instructor know as soon as possible so other arrangements can be made, all students MUST pre grade before being allowed to grade.
There is also an option to pre grade at the Winchester club on the Monday before the grading if needed.
Upon passing the pre grading the student will be entered for the full grading, gradings are £28 per student which also includes a new belt which will be presented at the next training session after the grading as long as they pass.
What to expect
Once you have passed you pre grading you will be given your grading start time (if different from stated at the top of this page). You should aim to arrive at your grading early leaving plenty of time for parking and getting changed, the format of the grading will be mostly the same as that of the pre grading.
While at your grading you will be asked to perform your grading syllabus, a copy of this can be found within the members area. However you should always make sure you know everything up to and including your grade as you may be asked to help with junior gradings or to perform line work or step sparring from previous grades.
Finally ensure that you have familiarised yourself with the grading etiquette that can be found in your colour belt books on page 10.
